ATTENTION The Sheridan County Weed and Pest would like to announce the aerial application of Larvicide for mosquito control during the week of June 24. The applications will occur at first light and the areas treated will be based on weather conditions and other factors. This program is designed to help the prevention of the West Nile Virus and several other mosquito-borne diseases. Each major drainage will be sprayed by a fixed wing aircraft to treat the standing water within 100 feet of each side of the creeks and streams. Only mosquito breeding habitat will be treated. The product being used is Vectobac 12 AS. It is a naturally-occurring material, and it only affects the mosquito larvae and black fly larvae.
